Dizzee Rascal's one-off show in Auckland this week sold out, a sign of his growing popularity around the world.
But he's not just focussed on the world of hip-hop.
Dizzee grew up on a council estate in London's East End, but those days are long behind him. The last time Nightline caught up with him, he was performing on a plane on his way to Sydney.
After that he toured with El-P, a highly respected artist from the alternative hip-hop scene.
While El-P is more likely to rap about science fiction than dance clubs, Dizzee says they really do have plenty in common.
"We can both be quite awkward bastards," says Dizzee. "(We're) both go-getters. Both like to go against the grain."
And speaking of against the grain, Dizzee is planning to hook up with another famous British act: Oasis.
"Noel Gallagher especially," he says. "I don't believe he hates hip-hop, he just mouths off. Yeah he's just a bit cocky."
Dizzee says he appreciates the rock'n'roll audience, who he sees are more enthusiastic than the average hip-hop crowd.
"Absolute chaos, people up and down...not a lot of hip-hop does that."
Hopefully the Oasis-Dizzee combo comes off. But in the meantime, excuse the pun, Dizzee is just happy being a rascal.
