With Oasis set to play two nights in the Cardiff International Arena this week, this is stopcryingyourheartout.com guide to the wonder full city that is Cardiff.
Cardiff is the capital and most populated city in Wales.
As well as being the political capital, it's Wales's centre for business, education, sport, tourism, culture, media and government.
The city of Cardiff is the county town of the historic county of Glamorgan renamed later to South Glamorgan).
It was a small town until the early 19Th century and came to prominence as a major port for the transport of coal following the arrival of industry in the region.
Cardiff was made a city in 1905, and proclaimed capital of Wales in 1955.
During the past 10 years Cardiff has firmly established itself as one of the UK’s top tourist destinations.
Cardiff is a lively, engaging and cosmopolitan city with something to offer every visitor.
From top sporting events at the Millennium Stadium, to World-class stage performances at the Wales Millennium Centre, not to mention the UK’s biggest free outdoor summer festival, and home to Cardiff City Football club the list goes on...
Cardiff is regularly voted one of the best drinking destinations in the UK, little wonder, with over 40 pubs and bars in and around St Mary Street alone!
Historic and cultural attractions include the National Museum, Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch and the Welsh Folk Museum in St Fagans.
The central location of the Cardiff International arena means that the city centre is awash with fans before and after a big concert
Oasis first played in Cardiff on the 2nd June 1994 at the University city hall and have returned to the city numerous times since then.
Oasis last played in Cardiff at The Millennium Stadium on 10th December 2005, when they were joined with The Foo Fighters, RazorLight And The Coral for Noise & Confusion 2005.
Oasis return to the city to play The Millennium Stadium next summer on June the 12th with special guests Kasabian and The Enemy.
Current Bass player Andy Bell was born in the city on August 11th 1970 and stopcryingyourheartout.com was created in Adamsdown, Cardiff in 2004.
