Oasis Caught Up In Pig Flu Alert

Oasis are holed up in a hotel in Venezuela sheltering from the threat of swine flu.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have been stuck indoors for a couple of days, only venturing out wearing surgical masks to protect their prized lungs from the potentially fatal virus.

They did manage to play a gig in capital Caracas — but management have ordered the band, made up of Gem Archer and Andy Bell, to stay out of harm’s way.

Not something that comes easily to the Manc hellraisers.

Liam joked: “In Caracas, top gig. Sat in me room in silence as my TV doesn’t work. Not allowed to leave the hotel for fear of being tickled to death.”

And Noel blogged: “Ain’t got that pig flu yet, by the way. Give it time, though.”

Cracking

All that extra thinking time has sparked a cracking money-spinning plan in the rapier-like business mind of guitarist Noel.

He is keen to add to the band’s merchandise by having Oasis face masks made with the band’s logo and “MCFC” printed on the front for their beloved Manchester City.

My computer whizkids have shown how Some Might Say singer Liam and bruv Noel would look wearing the masks.

A source said: “Noel thinks the surgical face masks look amazing.

“He has been joking that he feels like a James Bond baddie. He’s keeping his for the summer gigs back in the UK.

“He has even had a laugh with pals that Michael Jackson was on to something by being the first to wear one.”

On a more serious note, Oasis haven’t had much luck across the Pond over the years.

Noel said in a Q magazine interview that the band could have been bigger than The Beatles in America, but Liam threw their big chance away by being a yob.

Now swine flu is threatening to derail their latest overseas adventure.

Liam is determined to make sure the band are here for the long term though.

He was fighting back yesterday after Noel’s comments about how they would be five years older before their next album came out.

Speaking from the comfort of his hotel suite he said: “It won’t be a five-year break if I’ve got anything to do with it.”

Just make sure you survive the virus floating about South America first, Liam.

Get some oinkment for your chest.
