Oasis Tickets Latest: Council Issues Statement

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has issued the following statement following criticisms about today's sale of tickets for the Oasis concert at Bridlington Spa next month.

"The Spa Bridlington experienced unprecedented demand for the Oasis concert with tickets selling out within 90 minutes.

"It is a credit to the professionalism of everyone involved with The Spa that the venue is able to attract artistes of this calibre.

"Some tickets were available from the venue while the majority were allocated for national sales.

"Tickets were made valuable on a first come, first served basis and a maximum of four tickets per person, with some fans camping out overnight.

"Queueing was in the main orderly with staff and barriers ensuring that tickets were allocated fairly.

"We understand the disappointment of anyone who didn't get tickets but hope those who did will enjoy the concert."

What total rubbish, i was there in the que, people were pulling up in there cars and jumping in the que, the manager noticed this and his only response was to shrug his shoulders. Many more people who had been there since 2am would have got tickets,if they had been allocated fairly. I am not complaining because i didn't get tickets because i did online, im just saying if the Spa want big acts to play there they need a better system to avoid this happening again.

MUSIC giants Oasis are coming to Bridlington Spa this summer.
The Mancunian rockers, currently playing a host of sell-out stadium dates across the country, will perform at the venue on August 20.

Tickets went on sale yesterday morning, prompting scores of eager fans to queue for hours, with a number of die-hard fanatics even camping overnight.

First in the queue were sisters Lauren, 21, and Abbie, 19, Jamieson, of Westgate, who settled in their spot outside the Spa main entrance at 3pm on Tuesday.

"Camping overnight was alright actually," said Lauren.

"It was raining a lot but we had plenty of sleeping bags and umbrellas."

"It's definitely worth it. The atmosphere will be great as it's such a small venue for Oasis. I just can't wait"

Abbie said: "We haven't had any sleep but we don't care."

Their friend Charlotte Taylor, 21 of Flamborough, also camped overnight and said the atmosphere in the queue was fantastic.

"A lad had a guitar and there were lots of sing-alongs, all Oasis songs obviously!"

And Ryan Stirk, 18, of Harland Road, who camped outside the Spa in a camper van, said seeing Oasis in his home town would be very special.

"I couldn't believe it when I heard they were coming to Brid, it's just amazing.

"I was down here as soon as I found out. I've been brought up on Oasis and am a massive fan. It will just be awesome seeing them in the Spa."

Spa managers said hosting the world-famous rockers could be the biggest thing to happen at the venue since the Rolling Stones played there in the 60s.

"We are buzzing here. It's amazing news," said Jo Clarke, customer services manager at the Spa.

"We have likened it to the Rolling Stones who played here in 1965. In that era if you were a certain age they were like one of those bands you wanted to see before you died and Oasis have been the same for their generation."

Coun Jane Evison, East Riding of Yorkshire Council's portfolio holder for cultural services, housing and public protection, said: "This is really exciting news to have Oasis playing at the Spa, a real coup for Bridlington and shows how highly the Spa is rated by promoters.

"I feel it reflects the hard work of all the staff there, who continue to ensure the Spa is one of the north's premier entertainment venues."

Oasis will be supported by South Yorkshire band Detroit Social Club.

l Multi-award-winning comedian Jason Manford is returning to Bridlington later this year with a performance at the Spa on November 24.

Please read the articles on the bridlington free press website, which has comments from local people, which will validate my complaint, instead of quoting the few that did get tickets from the spa and from employees of east riding of yorkshire council !!!!!
