The man who attacked Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher as he performed on a Toronto stage received a conditional sentence of 12 months Wednesday, meaning no jail time.
He’ll serve his sentence in the community under house arrest.
Daniel Sullivan, 48, of Pickering, Ont. had pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm.
The father of three said he was so drunk he couldn’t remember how he got backstage at the Virgin Music Festival in September 2008 and pushed Gallagher from behind.
Sullivan was then tackled by security guards as he approached Gallagher’s younger brother, singer Liam.
Gallagher suffered three broken ribs and the band was forced to cancel several concerts.
“I just want to express my sincere apology to the victim,” Sullivan told the court.
The Crown was seeking a sentence of six to eight months in jail. Defence had asked for the conditional sentence.
