Former Oasis front man wants to see Roberto Mancini's men claim glory in Europe next season but admits he endured a nervy 90 minutes at Wembley
After watching his beloved Manchester City lift their first domestic trophy in 35 years with victory over Stoke City, lifelong supporter Liam Gallagher admitted he was somewhat nervous throughout the day and that he hopes the FA Cup win acts as a springboard for next season.
Gallagher cut a jubilant figure during his interview and despite having watched his side comfortably see off any Stoke surge for an equaliser, the former Oasis front man admitted he struggled to contain his nerves.
He told ESPN: “Made up man, made up, I was f*****g s******g it all the way through. Stoke were Stoke, top fans, s*** team.”
Yaya Toure hammered Gallagher’s boyhood club to cup final glory with a thumping drive on 75 minutes, sparking scenes of joy amongst City fans which Gallagher hopes will become more regular in the future.
“Man City, we done the business, hopefully we can go on to bigger things and nail the European Championship next year,” he added.
“It was a great day out, kids were buzzing, very nervous but we won it and its all come good again.
“I’ve supported them for 35 years of my life, come on City!”
The rock star watched from the stands with his children and wife, Nicole Gallagher, who was also caught up in the emotion of the victory, she added: “It was great, it was very sweet watching my little ones enjoying it, it’s making me emotional.”
