Noel Gallagher celebrated his 100th solo gig in classic fashion — with an all-night rock’n’roll tear-up.
The High Flying Bird was joined by two Stone Roses, a Buzzcock and Dizzee Rascal to mark the occasion backstage at Benicassim.
But Dizzee kept putting his foot in it all night, by calling the former Oasis star “Liam” by mistake.
A source backstage said: “Noel was on top form — it was his first chance to have a night out with the Roses.
“Ian Brown was doing magic tricks for the lads, including bandmate Mani.
“Noel was going to knock Dizzee’s baseball cap off to make his point.
“It was quite a collection of hardened drinkers — Buzzcocks’ Steve Diggle is a punk legend.”
Noel partied until 8.30am — then had to catch a flight to London as he plays a huge Edinburgh Castle gig tomorrow.
The Stone Roses dedicated I Am The Resurrection to their “friend Noel Gallagher” during their brilliant headline slot at the huge Spanish festival.
Noel had played the best gig of his tour to a sunburnt, hammered crowd.
Earlier he poked fun at bassist Mani for being knocked back in his hotel at breakfast for wearing sandals. Speaking on my Xfm show, he said: “No wonder — he’s got feet like Wurzel Gummidge.”
Noel was braced to step in for headliners The Roses who nearly missed it after their private jet broke down in Portugal.
Noel added: “The elastic band on the propeller for their jet has gone. I told Mani he only needs to ask if he wants to borrow my Learjet.”
He said he’s seen Bono and is up for playing during U2’s next world tour.
And he announced he’ll play an exclusive and rare acoustic gig with Xfm and WarChild at Dingwalls in London on August 14.
You won’t see Noel in a venue that size very often again — for tickets see noelgallagher.com or Xfm.co.uk.
Dizzee, Steve and The Roses are welcome to come along for round two.
