Liam Gallagher has signed a record deal, with plans to release his debut solo album next year.

According to Music Week, the former Oasis frontman has signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records UK, and will be releasing his first solo studio effort in 2017.

Speaking about the announcement, Gallagher said: "Very excited to be signing to the mighty Warner Brothers. Looking forward to making some super sweet sounds. Keep the faith!"

President at Warner Bros. UK, Phil Christie, added: “Liam’s one of the all-time greats - brilliant, distinctive, controversial and captivating.

“The album he’s currently recording is big, bold and heartfelt, and it feels important and culturally relevant.  It’s great to be working with Liam, Debbie and UROK on such a strong return for one of the UK’s most loved artists.”

This week in an interview with Q Magazine the Some Might Say singer already revealed he had 10 or 11 tracks, which he described as "chin-out music".

He teased: “They’ve got flair, attitude, the melodies are sick and the words are fucking funny.

“We’ll record them this year and release it next year. It’ll shock people. "
