Oasis Play Surprise Los Angeles Show

Noel digs out 'Whatever' for US fans

Noel Gallagher played a surprise solo show in Los Angeles last night (November 9).

The star, backed by Oasis bandmate Gem Archer, performed at the city's Wadsworth Theatre.

The show was put on by radio station Indie 103.1 to promote the new Oasis compilation 'Stop The Clocks'.

Gallagher played a set similar to his show at KOKO in London last week, this time however including 1994 hit single 'Whatever'.

The show began again with three B-sides - '(It's Good To Be) Free', 'Talk Tonight' and 'Fade Away'.

"If you like Oasis B-sides, you'll have a good night. If you don't then you won't," Gallagher told the crowd.

Gallagher also covered The Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields Forever', as he had done in London too.

Gallagher seemed cheery and appreciative of the warm reception fans gave him.

"We did one of these in London last Thursday, and it was fuckin' chaos," he said. "You're very well behaved, I must say."

Tickets to the event were scarce, with fans having to call the radio station to win them. The gig was preceded by a screening of the Oasis 2005 tour movie 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down'.

The full set was as follows:
'(It's Good) To Be Free'
'Talk Tonight'
'Fade Away'
'Cast No Shadow'
'The Importance of Being Idle'
'Listen Up'
'Half the World Away'
'Wonderwall'
'Whatever'
'Slide Away'
'Strawberry Fields Forever'
'Don't Look Back in Anger'
'Married With Children'
